Project Completed!!

No work was completed on-site this week.

The landscape contractor will continue to water the sod until they are confident the sod will survive and remains healthy.

Now that the project is completed, this will be the last Blog Post for the project. There are only a few minor items that the contractor needs to repair or correct prior to closing out the project.

Only Minor Repairs Remain

This past week, the pavement markings for the mid-block crossing were installed and the contractor performed some miscellaneous repairs to complete the project.

Next week Village staff will perform a walk-through of the project to determine any deficient items that need to be addressed by the contractor prior to project close-out.

The landscape contractor will continue to water the sod they are confident the sod will survive and remains healthy.

Concrete Ramps Installed for Mid-Block Crossing

This past week, the sidewalk ramps for the mid-block crossing at Harrison Street were installed. The contractor also performed some general site clean-up and miscellaneous repairs to new and existing manholes.

The contractor is committed to watering the sod and ensuring the sod survives and remains healthy.  

The entire project is completed at this point with the exception of performing a few minor repairs and the pavement markings associated with the mid-block crossing at Harrison Street.

Landscape Restoration Completed

This past week, the contractor completed installing and grading topsoil, installation of sod, pavement markings, removal of the southbound detour, and other miscellaneous tasks.

The contractor is committed to watering the sod and ensuring the sod survives throughout the year and a healthy lawn is restored.  

The entire project is completed at this point with the exception of performing a few minor repairs that were found during a final walk-through of the project.

Landscape Restoration On-Going

This past week, the contractor completed installing the asphalt surface layer along the entire roadway. The landscaping contractor was also on-site installing and grading topsoil in preparation for installation of sod.

Next week, the contractor will complete installing and grading the topsoil prior to sod installation. The contractor will also begin installing the sod within the parkways. The contractor has decided to install the sod now instead of waiting until the fall when the growing conditions are more favorable. The contractor is committed to watering the sod and ensuring the sod survives throughout the year and a healthy lawn is restored.  

Pavement markings will be completed once the topsoil installation is completed.

The southbound detour along Washington Road between Norwood Terrace and Central Road will be in effect until the landscapers are completed and the pavement markings are installed, hopefully by the middle to end of next week.

We thank you again for your patience and understanding throughout the entire construction process. As the topsoil and sod installation progresses, the lawns will look much nicer. Thank you for your understanding and tolerating a dug-up yard during the construction season.

Asphalt Surface to be Completed

This past week, the contractor completed installing asphalt driveways, storm sewer improvements, performed manhole adjustments within the roadway and parkway, landscape grading behind the curb, and milling the existing pavement near Central Road.

The contractor will install the asphaltic surface layer on Saturday, August 3rd starting at 7:00 AM.

Next week, the contractor will continue with the landscape grading and installing topsoil prior to sod installation. Sod installation will not be performed until the fall when growing conditions are more favorable.

Pavement markings will be completed once the topsoil installation is completed.

The southbound detour along Washington Road between Norwood Terrace and Central Road will be in effect for the project entirety, around August 15th.

Asphalt Binder Being Installed

This past week, the contractor completed the concrete curb & gutter, concrete sidewalk, and concrete driveway installation. The contractor also performed the fine grading of the aggregate base course. The 1st layer of asphalt binder was installed on Friday.  The 2nd layer of asphalt binder layer is scheduled to be installed on Saturday, July 27th. The contractor also performed some additional storm sewer improvements behind the concrete curb & gutter.  

Next week, the contractor will complete the storm sewer improvements, adjust the existing manholes, and perform landscape grading behind the concrete curb & gutter, around sidewalks, and storm sewers. The asphalt paving contractor will install the asphalt driveways.

It is anticipated the landscape contractor will begin grading and installing topsoil prior to sod installation. Sod installation will not be performed until the fall when growing conditions are more favorable.

Once all the landscape grading and topsoil installation is completed, the final lift of asphalt surface will be installed and the pavement markings will be completed.

The contractor is anticipating to work on Saturday, July 27th starting at 7:00 AM. The contractor will be installing the 2nd lift of asphalt binder.

Concrete Curb & Gutter Installed

This past week, the contractor completed the roadway excavation, installation of aggregate base course, and removal of sidewalks and driveways. The contractor also installed concrete curb & gutter on both sides of the roadway and concrete sidewalks along the project site.

Next week, the contractor will complete installing the concrete curb & gutter, sidewalks, and driveways and complete any remaining underground utility improvements. The contractor will also perform grading from the new concrete curb & gutter to the existing landscape and fine grading of the aggregate base course.

The contractor is anticipating to work on Saturday, July 20th starting at 7:00 AM. The contractor will be pouring concrete and performing grading work.

Asphalt paving is scheduled to start the week of July 29th.

Roadway Reconstruction On-Going

This past week, the contractor completed the storm sewer and water main improvements along the project site. All underground utilities are now nearly completed with only a few items remaining throughout the project. The contractor also began the roadway reconstruction process from Norwood Terrace to Central Road. The contractor first removed the existing asphalt pavement, then began excavating and installing a new aggregate base.

Next week, the contractor will continue to perform the roadway excavation process to Central Road. The contractor is also anticipating to install the concrete curb & gutter mid-week and concrete sidewalk at the beginning of the week. Prior to installing the concrete curb & gutter, residents will be notified regarding access to their driveways during the construction and curing process.

The contractor is anticipating to work on Saturday, July 13th starting at 7:00 AM.

Underground Utilities Nearing Completion. Road Reconstruction to Start

Last week the contractor completed the connection between the existing water main and new water main at Karen Lane. The contractor also performed storm sewer installation along the north side of the project site.  

This week, the contractor will likely complete the storm sewer and underground utility improvements along the project site.  Once the underground utility improvements are completed, the contractor will begin the roadway reconstruction process, which will likely start later in the week or the week of July 15th.

Storm Sewer Continues on Washington Road

Last week the contractor completed a series of water main connections between the existing water mains and the new water mains. We thank you for your patience during these water main shut-downs and disruptions to water service. The contractor also continued to install storm sewer along the project site. With the exception of the connecting the new water main to the existing water main at Karen Lane and a few miscellaneous abandonments, all of the water main should now be completed. 

Next week, the contractor will continue to install storm sewer along the project site. The contractor will also make the connection from the new main to the existing main at Karen Lane. To perform this work a water main shut-down will be required. Residents will be notified 24 hours prior to any water main shut down.

The contractor will not be working on Thurday, July 4th and is not anticipating performing any work on-site on Friday, July 5th.

South Bound Detour in Effect

Last week the contractor continued to install water main and storm sewer along the project site. 

As of Thursday, June 13th, all southbound traffic is being detoured around the project site, while northbound traffic is allowed travel between Norwood Terrace and Central Road. This detour route will be in effect for the project entirety, around August 15th.

Next week, the contractor will continue to install water main and storm sewer along the project site. The contractor will begin making connections between the newly installed water main and the existing water main, the water main will be need to be shut-off to perform this work. Effect residents will be notified 24-hours in advance of any water main shut down.

South Bound Detour to begin on Thursday, June 13th.

Last week the contractor continued to install water main and perform testing on the newly installed water main.

Next week, the contractor will continue to perform testing on the newly installed water main and begin working on the storm sewer improvements.

The contractor may also begin making connections between the existing water main and newly installed water main following passing of the necessary tests. A water main shut down may be required at various locations to perform this work. Residents effected by a scheduled water main shut down will be given 24-hour notice.

On Thursday, June 13th, Washington Road will become a one way street, northbound only, between Central Road and Norwood Court.  Southbound traffic will be detoured over to either Shermer Road or Greenwood Road.  Signs will be in place to mark the detour, which is anticipated to last 6-8 weeks. 

Access to driveways along Washington Road will be maintained throughout the detour and emergency vehicles will have access to the road at all times.  Trash collection and mail delivery will also continue for the duration of the detour.  When the new road is placed two way traffic will be restored.

Water Main Construction On-Going

Last week the contractor performed tree removal, connecting to the existing water main, water main installation, and storm and sanitary sewer replacements.

Next week, the contractor will continue to install water main and perform storm and sanitary sewer replacements along the project site.

As you are likely aware, during construction operations sometimes unexpected events occur, specifically the hitting or breaking an existing water main. If this should occur, the existing water main needs to be shut down immediately and repaired. We will do our best to notify each resident prior to completing turning off the water, but we ask for your understanding and patience during these times.

Residents will be given a 24-hour notice for any scheduled water main shut-downs,
